the CrossFit community comes together to honor that hero by creating a tribute workout in their name. Since the idea was started with “The Murph”, thousands of workouts have been written in tribute to the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice. This is our way of remembering and showing our gratitude, it’s our moment of silence.
These “Hero Wods”, as they are called, are notorious for being long, grueling, and extremely difficult by themselves. The question and story behind 12 heroes is “Can we do 12 in a row, for 12 hours?”.
This long-haul challenge is simultaneously a test of mental toughness and human perseverance and an ultimate tribute for those they are written for. O.U.R. has a history of working with active and veterans of the services, so the synergy of CrossFit O.U.R. showing our gratefulness for these 12 heroes and their sacrifice pairs well.
The premise of the event is simple. One tribute workout an hour for 12 hours, ending with the most famous of them all, MURPH.
You can take the ultimate challenge and do all 12 workouts, or you an opt to do just a few of your choice. We want everyone to be able to get involved to raise awareness for O.U.R. and to show our support to our veterans.
